I played about 50 hours of Outlands and while it definitely has some cool features, nostalgia isn't one of them. You guys made an awesome server and I'm happy for your successes but acting like Outlands is the end all be all is a fucking joke. Which I feel for most people, is probably more important than anythingĭamn bro, this almost reads like you think all the other UO servers are pointless. But of the people willing to expand their horizons a bit, the vast majority who try Outlands out do genuinely get that feeling of the same level of curiosity and excitement that they felt when they encountered UO for the first time. If you're deadset on playing a server that is largely driven by nostalgia and maintains era-accuracy, Outlands definitely isn't for you. I played Great Lakes from 1997-2000, and right now we're averaging double the online population that GL had even during its peak, so Outlands truly is one of the few servers where you can experience the feeling of having a fully populated and living world, where there's constantly people to interact with, and the economy is incredibly stable While Outlands does have a ton of custom content, I feel there's enough of a base where most older UO players can still hop into and feel grounded with core gameplay, while also simultaneously feeling that initial experience of encountering UO for the first time where they get the excitment of discovering the map, get to experiment will all sorts of character builds, and have the player-to-player interactions that were key to making UO feel so unique when it came out

As many people have mentioned on here, probably your closest bet is UO Renaissance though if you want something that has little customization and fairly era-accurate representation of things Most of these servers have been online for 10+ years, and in-game inflation of gold is next to impossible for new players to catch up to, and a giant chunk of the population are AFK in houses or AFK at Britain Bank most of the day. If you're deadset on trying to re-experience UO as it was in the first 1-3 years after launch, unfortunately you're not going to find anything that has a thriving population, stable economy while simultaneously having era-accurate rulesets.
